I want to believe you're right, because the alternative is absolutely soul-crushing.

Although at the moment both checkboxes are ignored. It's temporary on
develop only.

Received from a recruiter on LinkedIn after a job description:
If this is of interest, please revert to get the ball rolling!
At this point I am not able to confirm if this is simply broken english (which is fine) or hip startup parlance (which is not).
-
The number is also irrelevant, a simple dot would do the same job.
-
You're welcome, I only know this because I looked into the code itself. I believe the Home number should be removed, and the Network number should only show the new top-level posts since this is what actually appears at the top when the page is reloaded.
-
The network number shows all the unseen items (posts, comments, interactions). Refreshing the network page marks all the items as seen.
The Home number shows the unseen items (comments, interactions) on your own top-level posts.
-
The numbers on on the network and home icons aren't related to notifications. They're their own separate system and while I don't believe we should keep them as is, it would cost more to remove them than to leave them in place for now.
-
For me it's important not to see them at all, so I will be taking care of it this week.

As a matter f fact, I just got an answer for you, and yes, it shows Like notifications now, unfortunately.
I guess I have to create the notification settings matrix I envisioned sooner than expected.

Hi !Friendica Support,
we just rolled out on develop a major overhaul of the notifications menu. In practice, it shouldn't change much to the usual, except that follow requests will now be shown even for accounts auto-accepting follow requests (soapbox and freelove accounts).
However, if you notice something afoot, please report it, it probably isn't you, it's Friendica.

I agree with you on the technical aspect of it, bit this isn't how it is presented on this website.
The worst part of it? The "Register your digital cleanup results" page including a newsletter signup checkbox. Literally the opposite of what they are setting up to do.

Days since I last refrained from arguing with a stranger on Twitter: 0.
-
I hear you about slowing the growth of the demand for storage space, but this doesn't cut back on existing emissions, it only marginally reduces future emissions.
-
Is this Digital Cleanup Day a gigantic waste of time like I suspect? Deleting unused files won't impact carbon emissions at all since the servers and devices they're stored on will still hum, even empty?

The mystery and melancholy of social media accounts posting topical status messages with no attached context nor replies to make sense of them.

No celebrity has any good life advice for you.

I’d rather be associated with TMDB, the movie database not owned by Amazon: www.themoviedb.org/

7yo: I’m looking for a movie, don’t know the name.
Me: What’s the story?
7yo: You don’t know it.
Me: Try me.
7yo: It’s the 125th anniversary of this dad…
Me: Hotel Transylvania?
7yo: *sound of jaw hitting the floor*
Dumb luck on my part, but the look on his face? Priceless.

Absolute boss move from #LEGO back in 2006 to start producing actual minifigure-sized planes that barely fit in any regular-sized bedroom. This one is from 2013, and the most recent large plane set was released in 2020.
