#MiniReview #Cinema Today I watched Infinite (2021), an Antoine Fuqua action flick starring Mark Wahlberg, and I've never seen a #movie so inadvertently and completely void the villain's main motive halfway through it. The rest of the movie was hard to watch.

Thanks and funny story, upgrading to the latest version of Devuan left me without certbot (???). Had to reinstall it and the couple plugins I use until the certbot renew command went through.

Thanks, it was a good video with close captioning which enabled me to get the substance without having to struggle for oral comprehension.

Minecraft itself didn't use to be that bad, mostly before the introduction of the Survival mode. In Creative mode there's no need for resource extraction to build anything, and there are no attacks either, so there's no arms race or status to be gained from an outfit entirely made out of rare materials.

I also have less personal quarrel with zombie games because it usually is a hopeless struggle that allows for some morally justified massacre. Post-apocalyptical games also have a knack of pitting the environment itself against the player, instead of some living embodiment of a native.

So there are ways to play sandbox/survival games without the colonial guilt. Transport Tycoon (1994) makes a good job at allowing you to build within an already populated environment, so instead of fighting against the natives, you're developing transportation services between the existing cities.

I'm not sure Stardew Valley fits the negative trope either, after all the farm existed but fell into disrepair, and actual relationships are formed with the locals, including through seasonal events you are encourage to participate in.

So it isn't unavoidable by all means. Those games exist, enough to justify a trope, but they are by and large a minority, as they should.

A Let's Encrypt email on my birthday? Oh no, not another automated birthday wishes email?

    "Certificate expiration notice for domain..."

    Oh. Yeah.

I am increasingly uninterested in #videogames which premise is “Landed on an uncharted piece of land, immediately started chopping down forests and mining the ground for profit, and now the locals are banding together to route me out? Oh well, time for some light genocide”.

A childhood friend I reconnected with on Signal after my Facebook account was frozen informed me that people keep wishing me a happy birthday 5 years later. Not sure only machines are to blame.

If you're thinking about implementing an automatic birthday wish email for your online platform, please just don't. Banks and medical platforms have ruined it already.

I'm playing Human Resource Machine (2015) which is a casual programming simulator, and one of the optional levels suggested me to "research [the XOR boolean operator] independently". Off to StackOverflow I go, just like with my real programming job!

I would say so, yes. In France the term "supermarché" is used for hypermarkets like Walmart.

Maybe the more accurate name is "hypermarket". It's a sprawling store selling groceries, cosmetics, clothing, sports goods, appliances, gardening equipment, hardware, etc...

Yes it was. They were playing some sort of screensaver, and it was trivially easy to access the underlying OS using Ctrl + Alt + Del. And I found out they came pre-installed with Descent. A few weeks after the discovery, the trick to bypass the screensaver wasn't working anymore.
