All of these, of course, would be decentralized and federated. Anyone can start a new one, and if they fuck things up they can be removed and dissolved.

Watchdog enterprises, meanwhile, are basically journalists and reporters, though somewhat more boring. Their job is to keep everyone else honest, and report on them if they're not being honest, or if they're being incompetent or whatever, so that people can ditch them and take their support elsewhere.

Logistical enterprises are a bit more interesting. Their job, basically, is to collect and distribute money and resources. This is useful, at least in theory, because it allows you to correct for various flaws of a normal market economy - externalities, abusive practices, things that just don't commercialize well (Like open source software), etc, etc.

General enterprises are basically businesses, though with some restrictions - they'd be non-profit, for example, though they mkight pay their employees relatively well. They'd be forbidden from getting too large, they'd be expected to make a lot of information public, and perhaps they'd have even more restrictions, like a maximum life span after which they were mandated to dissolve - I'm not sure on the details.

Hmm. So, heres an idea I thought about a few years ago. Basically, its an idea for a way to restructure the economy to hopefully be less corrupt. Of note, however, it can be implemented piecemeal, from the bottom up, at least in theory. It has three types of components: general enterprises, logistical enterprises, and watchdog enterprises. These are all distributed - that is to say, anyone can start a new one and hook it into the existing system.

That is to say, I tried a factory reset and it continued to crash while trying to do the factory reset. :/

Huh. So my phone has been crashing rebooting constantly and generally being unusable, I was planning to try and take it to a samsung agent and see if they could do anything, or failing that, try and intall a free operating system on it myself. But, now it's gotten into an android recovery menu somehow. Should I try and do anything with this? I already tried a factory reset unsuccessfully. :/

@karen It is a perfectly good hammer and sickle. or rather, two of them. They curve and everything. Unlike that hammer and sickle on the tank in your pic. :P

recently it has seemed to me that the main trick of computer programming is to learning how to break your problem down into a series of subproblems that turn out to be the subject of entire careers and yearly conferences of various computer scientists

@hypolite Ayep. That is indeed a problem that will need to be addressed. I'm feeling optimistic, though. I think we can do it. :/

@hypolite not necessarily everybody - I think it's possible for it to be fairly robust. Will take so doing though. :/

@hypolite Then you need to make them stop being a legislator. In general, societies checks and balances need to be expanded and reinforced to prevent people from being able to abuse their power. It's a big job. :/

@hypolite Well thats a lot easier - you wait for them to break the law and send them to jail. Not my preferred solution, but it does work. :/
