I am thankful for all the stories of personal growth that I see people post on here. It's not exactly that they're inspiring, but more that they are normalizing the idea that you can become a better person and kinder to yourself and others over time if you try.

My experience of mastodon: diving through a trapdoor into a poorly lit space and gradually discovering how big it is and how many other people are also sheltering in here, and how the one thing we have in common is human.

Given the intense focus on identity as divisive at the moment, this strangely anonymised space for meeting people according to their thoughts alone feels rare and hopeful.
