Half-backed realization: post length limits on social media push us to convey less nuance and use stronger words. A discussion will reveal the depth and the details, but the first impression is always of a strongly held belief, which automatically polarizes the discussion.

I don't know what can be done about this.

The ‛Prise Électrique’ (in Six Acts)

I need a wall socket to replace an important one I broke in the living room by ripping a lamp cord out of the wall like a fucking ape (it got worse from there, but that’s a different story).

Not the whole socket, mind you, just the essential piece inside where the magic happens (‘prise’ in French).

‘Fixe-le avant que je rentre, connard,’ yelled the wifman up the stairs lovingly as she left for the big city across the border.

I love Grant Snider’s Incidental Comics ... this panel from his recent ‘Cures for Boredom’ is a nice companion to the spirit and ethos that I find in our collective #smallstories (http://www.incidentalcomics.com/2018/08/cures-for-boredom.html)

My phone is garbage but I am pretty sure Mastodon isn't.
I stopped doing a lot of things that made me happy (like writing) and made me feel alive. Hoping to remedy the apathy and meet creative souls far far away from my tiny little goldfish bowl.
It's too small here to keep secrets.

Saw two exquisite young adult does in the big field. They swiveled their oversized ears toward me then rippled like magic into a full run, easily leaping fifteen feet with every stride...then they went way faster. And then faster still, hitting the woods at full speed. What a moment. Only a moment. The dogs saw them and tried to give chase but then stopped as if saying...outta my league. Good morning, my deers. #smallstories

    Hello!

Hashtags are searchable magic here. Try a few of these to get started:

    #smallstories
    #microfiction
    #poetry
    #poem
    #haiku

These are a few of my favorites. I'll boost this and see of anyone else has recommendations.

The world is one built on visual deception. I thought of this last night. I was driving to band practice, listening to Rosanne Cash, when I glanced up. Between the gap of two high hills, the silvery ghost fade of a summer moon hung in the sky. It was stunning, this floating coin stuck in the gap of the land. But it was all trickery. The distance between the moon and the small mountains too far to consider. The road fed me right into the hills, and the moon disappeared. #smallstories

Hi, I am a Venezuelan researcher studying the atmospheric particulate matter or aerosols. My PhD thesis was about the light absorption of black and brown carbon. I am currently studying combustion aerosols and their chemical and optical properties from a metrological perspective.

Other of my interests are #OpenAccess, #dataviz and #GeoScience.

We said we’d work until the rain came. We had so much to do. They said the rain would come at any minute, and so we pushed ourselves and chopped and hauled and sweated. The sun was hot and we grew tired but we wiped the sweat from our brows and said, “Soon it will rain, and then we can rest.” But it never did rain. #smallstories

There's a park here where people who drink a lot hang out. I was there yesterday afternoon, because I happened to be passing by, and there were lots of ripe blackberries over by the pond. So I was picking and eating those berries.

Along came a man who chatted for a while. He was young, and handsome, and smelled of alcohol. He asked "do you have a family?" and then went on to say "I don't. I have nobody. I am all alone. It is my choice. It will always be this way." And then: "I hurt a lot."

I wish I had better words for times like this. The conversation haunts me.

I managed to limp through three hours of performance this afternoon, despite my toe.

One of the highlights of my adventure: Two young boys that I taught hat tricks to early in the day. After seeing them on and off all afternoon, they joined me for my final show of the...they demonstrated their newfound tricks alongside me, cheesy "ta-da's" and all.
