None of these American creations are things I admire and aspire to see in my country.

I'm sorry but that's the truth. 'America' is now to many countries not the 'shining city on the hill' but 'eeeagh, that place we really do NOT want to become'.

cos that one's become a terrifying nightmare, the kind that might actually give us a heart attack, and we can't seem to wake up

I wish the Tomorrowland movie had actually had the guts to deal with the fact that the shiny industrial Future promised by Walt Disney was built on bones and skulls and is in fact what is literally killing the biosphere

it would have been a bit more honest than saying 'stop thinking about massive and accelerating wealth inequality and surveillance and fascism and extinction and climate change, you lazy Millennial kids just aren't BELIEVING HARD ENOUGH in the American Dream'

I played the HECK out of that fuzzy little C60. That and the 1978 JC Penney catalog. And aerospace magazines with literal missile ads.

'America' was this magical land of miracles and wonder to me, as a kid.

Sadly, it isn't any more.
