That falls directly within the realm of the assumption. Maybe some thought that even before it worked out well on Mastodon. Thing is, why bother now, in beta stage (PixelFed case), as if it were so essential? 🤷♂️

Nah man, I disagree. There are lots of people here posting their art already and being supported really well (there's even an instance dedicated entirely to it, surely you're aware of). Every artist could join and feel that.

This network is really really cool. It's not "our" fault if others don't join. I mean, the point of this is not about "us" approaching (overvalued) marketing practices. It's everyone (people) coming here and embrace freedom. Maybe it's just a matter of time.

"Build an audience" in this case is an euphemism to "market a product", imho...

Do you really feel that "not being big" is really a fault in the technical specs of the fediverse &/or the lack of some magical feature? I think they won't come here because there're not enough buyers (yet).

What'd be the point of a free network if it needs data gathering features for the big money guys to "succeed". I think it's not about replacing technologies, but also practices.

But that's nothing to do with Instagram. It's people using very low level features that every network has, hasn't it?

Thing is, we don't NEED (and we shoud AVOID) corporated world here. Why should we care for them in the first place?
