Wanted to change the keyboard layout. So I:

- open the Settings app
- go to keyboard
- look around a bunch
- no sign of keyboard layout

But of course, silly me, it's under Region & Language which is an entirely separate section.

And even there it's hidden. Windows UX is a fucking disgrace.

I have to keep a casual eye on the number of people saying “disappointed you didn’t have singular they in the list of options” and the number of people entering checkbox words into the text boxes because they couldn’t find them.

Every year there’s this tug of war between “why are the checkbox lists so long??” and “you don’t have enough things in the checkbox list!”

I play a mobile game called Skytopia. One of the NPCs is a woman of color. She's the one who tells players to build the happiness buildings and the jewellery shop. Happiness is worker morale and results in lower production costs, while jewellery is the most profitable game commodity. Players who write her advice off as frivolous pay a huge misogynoir tax. It's funny to see them complain

Would you cite social network posts (eg: the fediverse, tumblr) to prove there's demand (eg: significance of research) for something in, say, a proposal?

2. my professors have been busy, and have been slow to get back to me on other things I've needed, so I don't want to inundate them.

The argument I made when m.s blocked other instances was, we are protecting our users. Our users expect us to protect them like this, that's why they are here and if they are not that audience there are other spaces for them.
