   #MiniReview #Movies I was disappointed by Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024). For someone like me who considered the vehicles as the more interesting characters of Mad Max: Fury Road, there’s a cruel dearth of them. Watching the original right after the prequel, the latter doesn’t stand in comparison. Everything is cranked up to the max in Fury Road, the colors, the action, the characters, the vehicles, which is the only way in my view it could and did work.

   Kid always orders 8 plates of corn rolls every time we go to a sushi restaurant, several times per year in the last seven years. What happens next is so standardized that we assigned color codes:

   - Code yellow: Staff comes to the table: "Excuse me, the system says you ordered 8 plates of corn sushi, is that accurate?"
   - Code blue: No corn arrives, it's simply ignored.
   - Code green: Corn just arrives, no trouble.

   The other week we had an entirely new one: "Excuse me, it says here that ... oh, it's you guys. Ok then."

     @Ruben Yop. HK sushi and Swedish sushi are very similar in their focus: Quite seaweed-oriented, and lots of alternatives to fish, like cucumber, corn and avocado. Much more vegetarian-friendly than eating sushi in Japan.

   Finished iZombie S3 and it was a great season.

   Wikipedia says S4 will be great too, S5 will be pretty good, and the final season finale will be "one of the worst TV viewing experiences I've ever had".

   Maybe you can just do like with Star Trek Enterprise and pretend that the final episode doesn't exist?

     S4 was great!

     I love how every season ends with some major thing changing and the next season has a world where everyone is still in the same place and with the same relations (except when they're not), but the rules and context of the world have all changed and now we'll see how they deal with that.

     Season 4 was an especially big leap, with a jump of several months ahead, and it made for a really fresh story, but with all the familiar faces.

     Season 5 was less of a drastic leap, but is really interesting so far and very much not an abstract hypothetical fantasy story, but directly related to policing and how we run our societies.

     @Mans R We 're on the last season, and I don't feel that the zombie aspect ever became irrelevant.

     Most zombie stories are about how humans react to the zombie threat and its consequences, but zombies are the backdrop. This one is different because the zombies are also people and have agency, but it's the same thing: The focus is on how people act now that there are zombies.

     Each season has different drivers and challenges, but zombies aren't just a gimmick and it's not just about Liv eating a new brain and McIver playing a new character each episode (although that would take me very far already, she's awesome doing it). None of the seasons would make sense if there weren't any zombies, the challenges and situations are unique. Maybe season 2 is the most "just a crime-solving drama with a brain-eating oracle", but not entirely.

   Celebrating 5 years as a full-time employee in my current company. 5.5 years total, including my initial stint as a contractor.

   I'm not doing the same things I was when I joined, I don't have the same title or rank, I'm still being challenged and growing in my professional role, and I have great colleagues supporting me and being supported by me. 🥰

   As long as these things stay true, I don't mind another 5 years here. We're not running out of things to do any time soon.

   Kid likes playing the Roblox horror game "Doors". The other day it received a long-awaited update that introduced lots of new levels ("rooms"), monsters and puzzles. Now 120k+ people are playing the game at any given moment. Over 1M people have played the new extended version.

   I was out for a walk and when I came back his face was glowing. He's one of the first 5k people who managed to pass room 150! Now a few hours later, 10k more people have passed the room after he did.

    With all due respect, I disagree. The DVDs of all 3 seasons are more comprehensive.

    I was talking more as a whole since we never got seasons 4 and 5 on DVD. That said, I agree about seasons 2 and 3, but season 1 is actually missing more content on DVD than it is on Disney+.

    Not if you buy the German release.

    Today we arrived by car in Bruges, Belgium. The plan was to immediately park the car until we leave on Monday but thanks to an inaccurate map and my inability to read Flemish street signs, we ended up driving in crowded pedestrian streets.

    And on two occasions, presumably local men stood right in our path to prevent us from progressing. I’m not even mad, I’m impressed these two men would willingly lay down their lives to prevent cars from invading their Renaissance town.

      @Michael Vogel They looked like they were standing their ground, no help intended at all.

      On a different note I personally hate the Dutch language and its dialect, for me they are at a weird intersection of English and German without being that close to either of them. I know English, I know some German and Flemish and Dutch still elude me which is infuriating. I don't have the same problem with other languages that I don't know but that I can't easily relate to languages I already know.

      If I knew more Spanish, I could have the same issue with Portuguese for example, but thankfully I am not versed into either.

    After years of complaining about fake typhoons I finally get the front row seat to nature's rage!

    There is stuff flying upward, falling downward, passing sideways across the view through our bedroom window. Leaves are hitting the windows, plastic bags and plastic traffic dividers from the construction site nearby are doing a confused dance on the street. The occasional banner flies by. The wind is skimming water off the sea and blowing it across the street, effectively raining from below.
