I’m horrible at growing tomatos. I have a tomato plant this year, but it only had one tiny tomato and was very sickish all the time.

I can recommend chilis or non hot peppers as an easy to grow plant.
If you use a big pot like 20L there’s barely anything that can go wrong and you’re likely to get some fruits. They visibly let down their leaves when they lack water without dying for 3 or 5 more days, so they are hard to kill that way. Also they don’t get many diseases. The only risks are probably caterpillars eating it or aphids preventing bloom / weaking it to disease.

Supermarkets often only have 1-3 varieties when there are hundreds of very different varieties, and with spicy ones you don’t need a big yield. The plants look nice too, so it feels like something worth growing.
