In #Canada the federal electoral districts contain about 100,000 people, of which around 65,000 are voters (and of which only about 35,000 vote). I think that's under-represented: If the single Member of Parliament that represents the district spent 265 days a year, 8 hours a day with his constituents, he'd be able to spend only about 2 minutes/year with each one. That's not adequate representation, and it's even worse since there's only about 200 working days in a year and the MP spends about half of that in his parliamentary office in Ottawa, away from the constituency. But there's always a huge outcry when the electoral boundaries are adjusted for population increases, resulting in more districts, and so, more politicians. Improving representation by increasing the ratio of politicians to people is just not politically acceptable. #CdnPoli
