#announcement MetaArray IV will be implemented in TWO systems: MAIVa as NetBSD and MAIVb as Debian. Since 45% in the poll prefered #debian#linux we have decided to offer two independent MetaArrays which will be equally maintained. You can choose to use either, or both .. effectively doubling your storage capacity. The disks have been donated and are ready to install. Standby for a cut over event announcement from MetaArrray III. And BTW #happybirthday SDF.
A few years ago, I was looking for a lower-class script "f" to use for prestressing stresses in #XeTeX; I don't think I found a font with the right character at that time in #Debian Jessie.
unattended-upgrades(8) updating packages one after the other… waiting a few minutes between each… using 100% CPU all the fscking time.
Hopefully the bug was fixed upstream a long time ago, and it has made it's way into Debian, but stable is "stable", which mean broken software is preciously kept broken in order to not surprise systems administrator with fixed software… unless someone decided to backport the fix in the previous version.

lnxw48a1apt-listdifferences really makes a difference in the time that it takes to install updates. As much as I want to have that information available, I don’t want #Debian and #Kubuntu updates to take as long as #Win10 updates do, nor to have near 100% CPU usage during listdifferences’ runs. . I’ll probably remove apt-listdifferences later today.
♲ @debacle@framapiaf.org: #OMEMO is a big fish 🐠 in the upcoming #Debian 10 release (#buster) bowl. It hopefully will feature five #XMPP clients with this modern #e2e #encryption: #Gajim, #Dino, #Psi+ (all graphical), #jp (command line), and #primitivus (console), the latter two part of #SalutAToi or #SaT
The ultimate conclusion is that, once #Debian#Buster is released, I will switch to that from Raspbian. I want to have an OS that stays the same for two years except for security updates, even if it isn't as optimised as it could be for my machine.
I've never been a Debian user but from my (very) recent job experience it seems that using Debian rather than newer distros and sticking to the official repository to keep stability in a team work environment is an outdated idea. Things break and crash more often than I've ever seen. Does it sound to you like something you'd expect from having this setup nowadays? #debian#linux

@alpacaherder I don't like it either. I have a laptop with a fairly new* #Devuan install that is now set for a full wipe and install with #Debian. . * New enough that there's nothing on it but the install itself.
Installing #debian on my #librem15 off an old #ubuntu flash drive and feeling very happy to have a freedom respecting portable computer that is under 10 pounds.
