I'm proposing a new version of a metadata document specification for servers in the #federated #web. This aims to collect the good and avoid the bad of the previous iterations, and to be flexible enough for a large part of the federated web to implement it.

When we say #Switch to Mastodon, it is also important to talk about #Federation, #Decentralization, Self Hosting along with it. Otherwise, it repeats one of the purpose for which we are switching. There are various #Mastodon instances that we can join relating to our interest and the community that we can pitch in.

It does prove the usefulness of #federation that through all the #Matrix outage, my account was not affected at all. Most of the people I chat to are on other servers than the one affected.
