And so we enter the #fediverse. Support for all instances is coming soon. We're just waiting on more of the Keybase community to update to the latest versions so all of these new proof options will look good in the UI. Thanks for your excitement!
@kensanata IMHO it is not a problem for new instances - it' s the problem of new users who didn't understand the principle of the #Fediverse that THEY have to do something at first - to join others - before there is something in the TL.
Since then, I haven't engaged in any stressful public wit contest on hot-button issues, mostly because I physically couldn't on Twitter, and the #Fediverse is a friendlier place for me because there's less hate-quote (sharing content one disagrees with along with a criticism of it).
On the other hand, I realized I cut a couple of people I was meaningfully interacting with on Twitter from myself because they weren't following me. This made me realize that I probably was cut off from protected accounts who follow me because I don't follow back. So I went through my protected follower list and followed them back.
So, overall protecting my account has been a marginally good thing because my online feuds were negatively affecting my sleep, but it came at the cost of a few online relationships with people I wouldn't dare to ask to follow me back even if I had another way of contacting them. friendica.mrpetovan.com/displaβ¦
@alcinnz yeah, that seems to happen every time I post a link to a blog piece here. I'm wondering it it's a #SlashdotEffect? I really need to pull finger and follow Sean's example with #WeDistribute. Get the #Disintermedia blog onto a self-hosted platform that serves directly to the #fediverse.
We recently reached out to the SocialHub.network admins to talk about helping to run the #forum in exchange for expanding the scope to better fit our focus, ie #federated web more in general than just #ActivityPub (even though it's a big focus atm for everyone).
If you don't know what #SocialHub is; it's a #Discourse forum for ActivityPub discussion, mostly so far focusing on #Pixelfed, #Prismo, #Funkwhale and #Anfora projects. The current admins want to pass the maintenance on due to time constraints.
There has been some heated debate whether #Feneas is the right organization to host this community. If you want to contribute to the discussion, to give your thoughts pro/against, please feel free to do so: socialhub.network/t/feneas-hanβ¦
We're in the process of writing a #FOSS manifesto partially in response to the concerns noted in this discussion.
If this doesn't work out, we'll need to ponder whether we then want to run a separate Discourse instance or do we just ditch the idea of a generic federated web forum for now.
