@dpwiz is it currently possible to run a social app over #GNUnet that could interoperate with #fediverse servers using either #ActivityPub or #Zot? Is it possible to add something to either or both that would make it possible? That might make it more attractive to potential early adopters. @zig
Having said that, I agree that supernodes don't have to be as centralized as servers. The #fediverse takes this one step, by connecting standard servers. The next step might be to disaggregate server functions, with some specializing in authentication, or media storage, or search, and so on. But we can't get rid of the concept of servers entirely without giving every device a persistent IP address (#IP6), and creating a decentralized replacement for #DNS. @VeintePesos@buoyantair@aral@alcinnz
Good Morning #Fediverse ! I've been up a while and had the opportunity to enjoy this awesome scene at the #dawn of the day. #tzag everyone and have a nice #Saturday!
Well, I know this has been going around the #fediverse a lot already, but it is such a great project, I think it can't be mentioned (and hopefully copied) often enough:
Congratulations @dansup , that's a really important feature for increasing #fediverse adoption. I wonder if #PeerTube has a feature for importing YT channels to PT servers? I'm certainly not aware of a Mastodon feature for importing from the birdsite (yet). #GDPR obliges the #DataFarms to make user data portable. I'd love to see every fediverse app working on a #FyreExyt for every user of datafarms with similar services. https://gdpr-info.eu/art-20-gdpr/ @switchingsocial
@Wolf480pl anyone who thinks government-controlled social media is a good idea needs to spend a bit of time over here in China. But no, I think what Alyssa is proposing is more like the democratization of all #fediverse instances. It's not utterly wrong, just a bit naive. Like trying to democratize all open source communities, whether that makes sense to their situation or not.
