Repost @mmn and !gnusocial I have some issue when registering to hostux.social user. See https://bin.shnoulle.net/?2162333ab3e6086b#7gou5eVjXfBS5F//gEsl/ijBujQjN0PwyStec92Uxlo= . I want to register to hostux.social@valere but return another user (link removed when repost, see ZeroBin for the link) . If i remind : there are an issue when an instance is resetted because user can have their id updated. But seems not the case here.
I already resubfeed and update-profile-data --all.
Do you have an idea ? Mastodon issue or GnuSocial issue ?

Direct messages at GNU Social (and assumingly on all other networks as well) are stored unencrypted in the database. I realised that again as a user asked me to delete his messages and suddenly I had all of them in clear text in front of me. Which is very discomforting...
So I decided to turn the direct messages feature off completely. If you want your messages deleted please let me know.
For private messages please use XMPP or encrypted e-mail.
Reminder for !gnusocial / !postactiv admins: It would be a good idea to blackhole requests to/from 91.121.67.58 since it can otherwise mess up your queue and halt federation.
@maloki @maiyannah open, honest, direct, lead developer of #postActiv an #gnusocial fork. Also sometimes critical about some developer dynamics incl. #mastodon. A voice worth listening and to support.
As I get myself up and running on #gnusocial, I thought I would post another reflective reason for abandoning the Goliaths... So much credulity and hostility towards !science and reason, how are we still living at a point where scientific i…
I think you're right in that some soul is lost. Anything which grows too much will fail as a community. However, as this is all !fs the important thing to remember is that these are mere tools to create our own, new and balanced communities.
I for one have seen many Twitter users come and go in floods to the !fediverse, some staying to create instances of #GNUsocial I think are despicable and don't agree with. But they are only a problem if you lack moderation.
Instead of "web-scale" we should think "human-scale".
@piersb but the real beauty here is that there are hundreds of #GNUSocial / #StatusNet instances that #Mastodon already can federate with. We are many.
@q3k well give it time. at least here you have a chance to have a properly decentralized thing. also, consider following people from quitter.se and otehr #GNUSocial servers. There's a fair bunch of people there, and they've been there for years.
