    eg. #cdnpoli on my current GNUsocial instance https://gs.jonkman.ca/tag/cdnpoli and on an older instance http://s.russwurm.org/tag/cdnpoli or even a foreign site like https://gnusocial.de/tag/cdnpoli -- this actually illustrates the problem with #hashtags; they only propagate to instances where someone is subscribed to the person posting. A !grouptag will go to all instances where anyone has subscribed to the !grouptag, whether they're subscribed to the person posting or not.

    I have a ton of #homestead stuff to do over the long weekend. We have plants to get in the ground, some painting to do etc. But I also need to rebuild my borked #emacs and setup the Manhut computer with a #MEANstack so I can do my #webdev courses. And, of course, I'll use an overabundance of #hashtags because I saw someone's #Diaspora site earlier today.

    The other side to this is how federation and #hashtags work, and why this makes mastodon hashtags distinctive as perspectival experiences, not communities as such.

    If I join #auspol on Twitter I can potentially see anything anyone has to say in that space. Not so here. But that takes a while to figure out.

    Making #mastodon even more #fun:

    - use #hashtags fot toots you'll like to have sorted in themes for fediverse wide discovery and engagment
    - welcome newcomers joining in through #introduction
    - follow up hashtags and engage
    - having specific hashtags used by the mastodon #community to have wider discourse about things like #communityCulture #mastodonPR #mastodonDev
    then conversations are less exclusive and it's easier to sychronize with others

    can this go to hall of #greatIdeasforMastodon?
