Thanks. @fdroidorg inclusion requests have exposed a number of "open source" Android apps as having non-free dependencies and spyware bundled with them. It seems like the #JitsiMeet app is in that category. It would be great to see app developers acknowledging those issues and working on them, instead of seeing it as the community's job ;)
@clacke group chat is all #JitsiMeet does. The voice/ video uses #WebRTC and their own #VideoBridge software. It's a totally separate thing from the #Jitsi#XMPP client. AFAIK it doesn't support XMPP and if it supports #SIP that's news to me. @xj9
@david_ross I'm excited about testing #NextCloudTalk, the new #WebRTC app for the NC platform. I believe it's a rewrite of #Spreed, so I'm hoping that means it's a bit more resource efficient than #JitsiMeet
@bobjonkman From what I remember, they were trying to get the community to take over the #Jitsi #XMPP & #SIP client in order to focus on #JitsiMeet (which seemed to be a service built atop #WebRTC).
I thought #Jitsi was a multi-headed client for XMPP and SIP communication. Apparently #JitsiMeet is more. If you think it's a valid "Free Software Social Media platform" then feel free to add it to the list! It's a Wiki, after all. I can use the extra help :)
