    1. NDP Should Use Its Clout to Push Vulnerable Liberals to Take Urgent Climate Action
      from Common Dreams
Trudeau has showboated as a climate champion even as his government bought the Transmountain pipeline... As Bernie Sanders noted: Nero fiddled as Rome burned, while Donald Trump golfs — and Justin Trudeau prorogues Parliament, it could be added.

Is there a Canadian equivalent to the #DSA? It's not the #NDP. They're not a movement in any meaningful sense and tend not to do much outside the election cycle. But, hey, if you want to feel like nothing more than a source of donations for a political party, join the NDP! They often send multiple fundraising emails PER DAY.

I sometimes toy with the idea of getting involved with the #Communist Party, but they're too much on the fringes to make much meaningful impact at the present.

And their policies will mean that they *have* to govern underwater!

♲ @James Moore (JamesMoore_org@twitter.com): It is time for Canada to have a Premier who can govern under water. Ontario, make it happen. https://twitter.com/TrilliumPartyON/status/1003635432075100160

In the Star, prominent leftists and public intellectuals Rinaldo Walcott and Naomi Klein tell it like it is, remind the populace that the NDP exists: https://www.thestar.com/opinion/contributors/2018/05/18/we-can-stop-trumpism-from-coming-to-canada.html

Now is the time for everyone in Ontario who is committed to social justice to help elect the NDP, write Rinaldo Walcott and Naomi Klein.

What's extra funny about Brad Wall moving to Alberta is that, after trashing the long-term prospects for #Saskatchewan...he moved to a #NDP -run province for a stable job. #skpoli #bradwall

I think you've identified the problem: lack of representation. Every party except the #ABNDP is under-represented in the legislature, and the ABNDP majority of seats has 100% of the power with only 40% of the votes -- 60% of the population gets no say in what the ABNDP decides to ram through. The #NDP across the country has a policy of implementing #ProportionalRepresentation, but every time they get in power they break that election promise.

Wow, I've been talking to random people about the Ontario election, and *everyone* I've talked to is seriously considering #NDP because of Doug Ford, some *very* seriously. I'm not talking about lefties either (that would be no surprise); these are either diehard Liberal or moderate *Conservative* supporters. I've been reading pundits claiming this (like http://rabble.ca/blogs/bloggers/alberta-diary/2018/03/andrea-horwath-will-be-ontarios-next-premier-remember-where-you) and shrugging them off... but, and this blows my mind to say it, it may just happen. !canada !cdnpoli

I listened to Singh's speech on the weekend and it was a good speech. It definitely seems to signal a shift leftward, which is not what I initially expected from Singh. This is a good analysis of what was in the speech, and what was missing.
