Is there a Canadian equivalent to the #DSA? It's not the #NDP. They're not a movement in any meaningful sense and tend not to do much outside the election cycle. But, hey, if you want to feel like nothing more than a source of donations for a political party, join the NDP! They often send multiple fundraising emails PER DAY.
I sometimes toy with the idea of getting involved with the #Communist Party, but they're too much on the fringes to make much meaningful impact at the present.
What's extra funny about Brad Wall moving to Alberta is that, after trashing the long-term prospects for #Saskatchewan...he moved to a #NDP -run province for a stable job. #skpoli#bradwall
I think you've identified the problem: lack of representation. Every party except the #ABNDP is under-represented in the legislature, and the ABNDP majority of seats has 100% of the power with only 40% of the votes -- 60% of the population gets no say in what the ABNDP decides to ram through. The #NDP across the country has a policy of implementing #ProportionalRepresentation, but every time they get in power they break that election promise.
I listened to Singh's speech on the weekend and it was a good speech. It definitely seems to signal a shift leftward, which is not what I initially expected from Singh. This is a good analysis of what was in the speech, and what was missing.
