This was after we discussed a piece of equipment he's trying to purchase for his side gig. Used is over $2K, new is quite a bit more. Says #sonTwo: "I know you're trying to buy this for me, but that's not why I told you about it. Let me try to do it myself."
I laughed, but I am already doing job and housing searches nearby.

lnxw48a1#sonTwo is now in a job search across much of the US (but not: California, New York, or any major urban area ... crime statistics are too high for them to feel comfortable raising the kids in such areas). The search is motivated by #GS4's continuing (relatively minor, so far) medical expenses and the slowness of the insurance company to add him to their policy.
Despite all that, the child smiles a lot. He definitely prefers Mom over Dad.
The Dodgers outfits and books I sent for #GS3 and #GS4 should arrive at #sonTwo's house tomorrow.
Meanwhile, #GD1 has started reading Manga* books, so I asked #sonOne for guidelines on what to buy. He's going to talk with her before he gets back to me.
#sonTwo recently changed to doing night security … at a slight pay increase, but recently interviewed for some sort of technical supervisor role. He’s also been dabbling (time is limited, I understand) in some web development courses.
#Daddy_A recently started some webdev courses, but has said nothing more, so I don’t know what kind of progress he’s making. I offered to send him a server if he can show me that he’s going to put it to use, but I’d probably be better off ordering one off eBay than paying someone to properly package and ship one of the ones I have here.
I think it is rather amazing how the team was known for streaks of wins and losses when I watched them as a child and they are still known for it when we’re “teaching my grandson right” by watching baseball games with #GS3. There must be a consistent management pattern which encourages this.
Will probably send books to #sonTwo tomorrow. #GS3 is already used to getting regular shipments of books and toys and #GS4 will figure it out within a year or so.
At one point, #A1 ( #Little_Boy_A ) knew that every time a box came to the house, it was gifts from grandpa.
(Note: I do occasionally have a deep conversation with #Daddy_A, but nothing like these. #sonOne is too ideologically purist to have many of these discussions, because anyone who disagrees is evil. I’m hoping he mellows now that he’s in his 40s.)
There’s an IT person working for $EMPLOYER who sends me texts telling me how much he has invested in #DOGEcoin and how many millions he will have once it goes up to $2. He’s nuts. I keep telling him not to put anything he cannot afford to lose into DOGE, but he can’t hear me, because he’s fully convinced that this can only go up in value.
On the other hand, when talking with my son, we mostly talk about currencies that are actively used for buying and selling goods and services. If there’s no market for a token or coin other than speculators, they’ll eventually move on, sticking the last person with huge losses on now-worthless tokens & coins.
