Alright, so...does #social *require* salmon now? I did a successful PuSH subscription to my up server from Social, but when Social gets a new notice from its callback to my up server it says it ignores it because it's an inactive feed in the "subscribe" state.

For what it's worth, 25% of non-voting Americans refused to vote because they were uninterested or unable to stomach a candidate. Using a rough approximation, Democratic-Republican party got 120m votes of 130, which means that ~33% of americans eligible to vote did not have a plausible candidate who could represent them. For any democrats watching, I'm pretty sure that 33% wasn't in the center the party's been chasing since before I was born.

@kitredgrave In the US? In the presidential elections when people can bother to vote? About half (55% eligible voter turnout in 2016)

"Followed by zero or more entry elements". I'm not sure why current implementations keep the entries in your atom feed tbh. I don't think any implementations use the entries (they would only be useful for backpopulating timelines of people you follow, but it's not a complete history...)
-
So basically I'm staring at rfc4287 trying to lawyer in my head about whether or not an atom feed *really* needs any entries. I don't think I can get away without like, a title.

Half of the fun of making minimalist programs is staring at standards and being like "How much of this can I break or ignore and still be smugly superior to the other implementors when they complain about how I'm "broken" because I'm strictly speaking following the standard."

@lnxw48a1 Sadly no, it's only the exact same model. I threw mine out after it nearly electrocuted me and melted a bit of chain I was holding in my hand at the time. I just use my phone as my alarm clock, which is why I never noticed that it's the same model until today (I've been in this hotel on and off for 2 weeks due to the flood)
-
Just now noticed that this hotel room has the exact same alarm clock I did growing up, that's kinda cool.

@lnxw48a1 There's actually a demo on android that you could play (I assume iOS too?) It defaults to japanese text but you can guess pretty well and I think if you tap in the..upper right it'll go EnglisH?
-
@lnxw48a1 Yep. and @theru bug report filed :)
-
@theru I'm sure it would, but I'm getting off of Social once #up is working ;) I have subscriptions working pretty well now, I just need to be able to push to followers.
-
1: Log into an alternate profile on your instance. 2: Go to a remote instance, choose to remote follow. Say that normalyou@place is the one who will be following. 3: click subscribe. 4: It will attempt to subscribe the account you're currently logged into, not the account you want to follow with.

Ooh, just found a GNU Social bug.
-
That probably means like...making a new user. I think I have a script for that though? Also makes testing easier....Yeah, probably worth doing.
-
I should probably spin up a test user on this instance so I'm not spamming everyone's timelines when I want to make sure that subscriptions work.
-
*controversial statement sure to blow up my timeline*
-
I think I just subscribed to myself

Is there a group for #ostatus implementers somewhere on the fediverse?
