#Ring, the excellent open source decentralised alternative to #Skype, has been recently updated.
You can get it for Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, Linux:
It's in all the app stores including Apple, Google Play and F-droid. (NOTE: Make sure you have the right "Ring", there's also another company's similarly-named but totally unconnected home security app.)

I agree all these things are bad, but they're not new, and they're definitely not "consequences of connection", but the consequences of corporate-owned media, ad-based revenue model, and political bitterness caused by rising inequality. We migrated to the net in the 90s because the same perfect storm had hopelessly warped TV, and we naively thought the net might be different.

My goodness! These "bus song videos" must be a profitable business. For the past two hours I saw at least 10 -12 mainstream actors appearing in them. Do people buy these CDs or do they release them for TV channels, I don't know. And they look like advertisements. Shiny finish and editing. I haven't seen them anywhere else. But yeah, I don't watch enough TV...
