1. In fact, the connection will pass through TURN in a few cases (but still present). Mainly when a side is only IPv4 and where UPnP is not available.
Running a TURN server is easy (coturn), the only thing to be sure is that the server is running outside the network of a peer (to get the good public ips). I did some docs here https://git.jami.net/savoirfairelinux/ring-project/wikis/tutorials/file-transfer#using-another-turn-server

@craigmaloney @switchingsocial I did a dirty POC (https://github.com/AmarOk1412/ruring) but really, it's too ugly.

But the basis is relatively easy, but the REST API needs a clean up.

@strypey mmh there should be no more instant failing because each message is retried during a week.

So if you can provide a better reproduce check and logs to help me to reproduce / know the reason of the fail

@strypey But I confirm you that the feature never existed. The only thing existing is when multiple devices are present on the DHT, they both receive the messages @whirli
