Funkwhale 0.21.2 is out, with several bugfixes and enhancement. It's a rather small release and, as usual, the full changelog is available at https://docs.funkwhale.audio/changelog.html#id1
Happy upgrade :)

Hey there!
Among other things you can do to help the project, you can help us review the work being done by other contributors.
This is incredibly helpful to increase the quality of contributions, and it's also a good way to understand better how #Funkwhale works internally while improving your own skills, such as programming (Python, Javascript), webdesign, REST APIs, documentation and writing, databases, sysadmin, ansible, docker, automation, etc.
---
It's open to anyone, and you don't have to commit on anything: if you are interested, create an account on https://dev.funkwhale.audio and send me a message with your username and your areas of interest and I'll add you to the corresponding groups.
If, for any reason you want to stop, you can leave the groups on your own (or ask me to remove you).
---
When someone submits a contribution and want some reviews, they'll simply mention the corresponding groups. This is where you receive a notification.
Click the link, read the contribution and post one or more comments, if you have any:
- Questions (even, and *especially* questions that might sound silly)
- Improvements suggestions
- Proof-reading
- Feedback
- Testing
If you have nothing to say, but want to let the contributor know you reviewd their work, you can also leave a thumb up.
Literally *any* of the above helps!
You don't have to review everything that is sent your way, and are also free to chose which contributions you are comfortable reviewing.
Thank you so much for your help!
Someone recently started to work on a native (as in: not based on Subsonic) android app for #Funkwhale. They are looking for feedback and ideas, so feel free to reach out on the corresponding discussion!

@luka yep, it's good not to depend on a single payment mean!
#funkwhale's new donation platform is now up and running đ
Simply visit https://funkwhale.audio/support-us to donate anonymously by credit card or SEPA transfer, or to become a voting member of our collective.
Many thanks to the people who contributed to and tested this đ€
If you want to read more about the changes and motivations, please check out https://blog.funkwhale.audio/~/Announcements/blog-post-week-2019-33-new-donation-and-membership-platform
(Also note that
our Open Collective page will remain available if you prefer to support us here)
As part of improving the creator/artist experience on #Funkwhale, we want to allow them to claim their profiles, and manage their info themselves. We also want to support additional fields in Artist profiles, such as a bio, or pictures.
Do you mind having a look at this poll and cast a vote to ensure we didn't forget any important field?
The full discussion is available at https://governance.funkwhale.audio/d/ft2EGQI4/designing-artist-profiles if you need some context :)
Thanks!
You are invited to #Funkwhale's first General Assembly, on May 19th, 6PM (UTC+2). This is a critical milestone to officially launch our collective, and we'd like as much participants as possible!
It's open to anyone, and the meeting itself will be text-based, so book the slot in your calendar, and come join us!
Everything you need to know about the meeting like the agenda, decisions, tools and voting process is available on our forum:

Allright, our new website is now up and running at https://funkwhale.audio/ đ đ đ
It features:
- Cute illustrations drawed by @robin
- Cleaner, mobile-first design
- More accurate and accessible explanations about the project
- A brand new #Funkwhale pod selector
- A brand new "Applications" page listing Funkwhale-compatible apps
- Internationalization-ready content, so we can translate the site in many languages!
Many thanks to testers, proof-readers, designers and everyone who helped!
Dear #Funkwhale translators,
I just freezed translation strings for the 0.18 and pushed them to our weblate instance. I've also enabled three new languages (Esperanto, Russian and Galician) since those were either completely or almost completely translated.
There are alot of new strings, and you'll have at least a full week (but possibly more, since we're aiming for a release during the month) to translate new content.
Thank you so much for your involvement!
Funkwhale Sync #2 will take place this Sunday, at 18:00. Agenda and details about the meeting can be found at https://socialhub.network/t/funkwhale-sync-2/143
See you Sunday :)
Reminder: you are welcome to join us on January to discuss about Funkwhale, what we should do, how, etc.
Details are here: https://socialhub.network/t/funkwhale-sync-2/143 :)

Rappel : vous ĂȘtes les bienvenu·es pour vous joindre Ă nous dĂ©but janvier pour discuter de Funkwhale et de son avenir.
Tout les détails sont sur https://socialhub.network/t/funkwhale-sync-2/143 :)
Import on https://open.audio over \o/
So, I've imported ~25Gb of music from the Free Music Archive on https://open.audio using this method.
It worked beautifully, and it's now available for the whole #Funkwhale federation. Follow this library from your Funkwhale instance and you'll have access to it:
https://open.audio/federation/music/libraries/ce1fb6d4-fae6-464a-a34a-bdd46209ee82
You can also visit https://open.audio/library/ directly to listen to all this new content! (you don't need an account ;)
@strypey @switchingsocial @musicman
Just to let you know, following our discussion from last week, I'v started writing a small utility to grab the FMAÂ content from archive.org.
I plan to mirror at least a part of the FMA on open.audio using this :)
If you're interested in #ActivityPub and #Federation, technically speaking, you'll probably want to have a read at our documentation on the subject.
If you want to drop a review and help to improve it, your feedback is welcome on https://code.eliotberriot.com/funkwhale/funkwhale/merge_requests/435
@funkwhale I'm pleased to announce that #Funkwhale 0.17 is feature-complete and stable enough to enter the testing phase.
If you want help with that, and use the project or own an instance, have a look at the article from the previous toot (https://blog.funkwhale.audio/~/Announcements/funkwhale-0.17-is-almost-ready/) to get started!
Happy testing!
@dansup @sivy the end goal is to have both:
- soundcloud-like features for creators to share their work
- grooveshark/spotify-like features for regular users to enjoy their music, discover new artists, etc.
Hi there! There is a brand new #Funkwhale blog you can follow from the fediverse, have a look at https://mastodon.eliotberriot.com/@eliotberriot/100664209364502602 for the details ;)
We'll use th blog to publish more in-depth articles and announcements, but we'll still use that account for everything else!
I have good news: very soon (probably this week), a Merge Request that drastically improve the deployment process when using docker will be merged.
As you may know, setting up the Nginx proxy that Funkwhale needs to work is usually the painful part, where mistakes are made, breaking the app completely.
Once the MR is done, we'll offer a dockerized version of the Nginx proxy, so you won't have to bother setting it up by hand :)
Pipeline is green, review is over, code is clean, documentation is written: the next release will include LDAP support, meaning you will be able to connect your Funkwhale instance to a LDAP directory for authentication purposes, removing the need for users to create yet another account.
Kudos to @joshuaboniface for the hard work on this (and for the first contribution)!
