"It’s strange, isn’t it? The ideology of capitalism is that it is a system that generates immense abundance (so much stuff!). But in reality it is a system that relies on the constant production of scarcity.

This conundrum was first noticed back in 1804, and became known as the Lauderdale Paradox. Lauderdale pointed out that the only way to increase “private riches” (basically, GDP) was to reduce what he called “public wealth”, or the commons. To enclose things that were once free so that people have to pay in order to access them. To illustrate, he noted that colonialists would often even burn down trees that produced nuts and fruits so that local inhabitants wouldn’t be able to live off of the natural abundance of the earth, but would be forced to work for wages in order to feed themselves. "

Microsoft has released their new Terminal application to GitHub, marketing it as another demonstration of their commitment to "open source". While the project is MIT licensed, did you know it is inextricably linked and dependent upon numerous proprietary SDK tools, headers, and the Visual C++ ATL.

Do not be fooled, see through the mirage of feigned support to undermine and sabotage the original ethics of the free software movement!

In Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the OS and most of the apps were open-source.

In the new Android 9 Pie Go, every app is a proprietary Google app. The only surveillance "opt out" mechanism I can see right now with this phone is smashing it with a hammer.

This OS is most prevalent in the sub $100 smartphone category.

Tech companies are selling digital privacy as a premium product to the rich. Others have to accept surveillance as the price to pay for digital services. This new normal is dystopian.

The conflict in Venezuela has reached the next step. Yesterday the Americans and their Colombian puppets sent an "aid convoy" to the Venezuelan border. Now they claim that the Venezuelan government attacked an destroyed the convoy. But luckily we have pictures of the event, where we can see that the trucks did not even make it over the border.

I don't understand “data scientist”.
What “scientist” is not a “data” scientist?
If the focus is on extracting patterns and insight from large datasets, without expert knowledge about the particular domains, to assist decision-making, a #statistician might be what you need.
I'm happy to be educated by any #datascientist reading this, though.
