I invite ALL federation developers to hop into #social on irc.w3.org for conversations around the social Web. It's where a few discussions on #ActivityPub discussions occur.

I know that we have http://socialhub.network/ for this as well and I encourage the devs to use these places in conjunction to this one for conversations for historical and open discussion reasons.

As I mentioned in https://v2.jacky.wtf/post/opt-for-indieauth, I'm down to help people with F/LOSS projects (optimally for the Fediverse/IndieWeb/general public) to add #IndieAuth support (both consumer and provider) for their projects. The easiest way for us to grow our projects is to work together!

We need to allow more nomadic identity and distributed storage of user data sooner into these services we build. Then we need to look into incorporating payment tooling so we can literally eat from the stuff we make.

I'd love to be fully funded using F/LOSS stacks.

First and foremost, we're building for people. We not building for PowerPC or the RISC-V. I get wary of platforms that do a hard rejection of interaction with other communication platforms because of what happened with corporately-controlled "solutions"/silos.

The WHATWG killed the Web. Well, not exactly; they stabbed it in the kidney, salted the wound with weak seasoning, DRM and JavaScript and shoved it into the Web.

And now it’s positioning itself as the savior. Great.

A social reader. It won't matter how people render their content on their end - a social reader will render it in the format / layout that YOU want.

Dubbing your lens as the sole lens = weak. It's a universe; there's going to be parts you won't be able to reach, parts you can't understand, parts you never grok. That's fine. That's not something you can get with other platforms.

Wow. Seeing @sir take that step to be funded solely for FL/OSS work is inspiring! I do hope they write about the mechanics (https://drewdevault.com/2019/01/15/Im-doing-FOSS-full-time.html highlights their announcement). Congrats!

I fucking hate this thing in tech when people preach "accessibility" and "usability" but design EVERYTHING for macOS using San Francisco and require a 4G or better network. Delete the word "accessibility" and "inclusive" from y'all vocab.

If you're building for people; build things that they can own, not rent.

Allow them to be nomadic with their data. Don't lock them in.
