    Conversations is a great XMPP client for Android. It's far better and lighter than the Matrix client for Android. On the desktop, we have Gajim, Pidgin and Dino. None of these are as good as Conversations, but they're slowly improving. I think the XMPP protocol supports audio/video calls, but I have never actually got it working on any of the clients. Maybe, client implementations aren't ready yet.

    A lot of FSFTN, FSMK, FSHM people are on Matrix. I don't very much like Matrix, but login occasionally to keep in touch with people. I prefer XMPP for IM.

    I'm not buying this idea among the left that racism is somehow caused by capitalism. Sure, the capitalist does benefit from disunity among the workers and therefore their reduced bargaining power. Capitalism benefits from racism, but to say that it causes it, is going too far. I believe that racism has a life of its own, and it stems from humans feeling threatened by those unlike them. In the world as it is now, I can hardly imagine a white workers' movement being inclusive or considerate about us black and brown folk.

    Have you looked at gnucash? https://gnucash.org/ I first learnt to do double entry bookkeeping by reading their tutorials. See their documentation at https://www.gnucash.org/docs/v3/C/gnucash-guide/index.html . In particular, accounting concepts are explained in section I.2.1.

    I used gnucash for a few years. Now, I use ledger, which is more plain text and command line oriented. https://plaintextaccounting.org/

    Yes, performance is still an issue. But, I was able to tolerate the freezes enough to finish playing a few games. Perhaps we should stick to playing small maps for now.

    I played 0ad last weekend. Seems like an excellent free software replacement for Age of Empires II. A lot more development effort is required of course, but it is already very playable.
