    ... telling the world I'm burned out and admitting that the project has suffered for it, is maybe not the smartest P.R. move.

    But I think people deserve the truth, and it's not all bad news. And besides, the shame and stigma around mental health stuff needs to die, and admitting weakness is part of that.

    Tell me I'm right? 😳

    Non-dairy milk like soy milk supposedly requires fewer resources (land, water, fertilizer, etc.) to produce. Then, why is it orders of magnitude more expensive?

    With the prime search, my laptop is running at full power (around 30 W, IIRC) *all the time*. Now, I am a little worried about the power adapter and the CPU's cooling systems. Is this a valid concern?

    It's possible due to relaxed cooling requirements, power consumption being distributed across a large area rather than being localized in a single place, etc. But, I'm not too sure. I probably have missed some important consideration.

    I like low power processors too, but something like prime number hunting is very much in the domain of high power high performance processors.

    Just successfully recovered my GNU Social instance from a database corruption due to a power cut. Thank goodness I keep daily backups! Data worth around 15 hours is lost, but that's not much for a small instance (< 5 members) like mine and it's a lot better than having my instance wiped off the face of the Internet.

    I've started contributing my idle CPU cycles to the Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search (GIMPS). https://www.mersenne.org/
    I have always been content to live with humble low-end CPUs and computer hardware, even though I do a fair bit of computing, compiling software from source code, etc. But now with the prime search, I feel tempted to buy some expensive high-performance hardware. :-|
