Indian trains are slow and disgustingly dirty. Buses are so expensive. Air travel is expensive and bad for the environment, but often the only practical means to travel long distance. I hate the government and capitalism.

I have yet to really come to terms with my extreme disappointment with the tech industry. Not just with the "techlash," but with many more personal things:

    - burning out on being an open-source maintainer
    - realizing that the browser industry is brutal and uncompetitive
    - noticing how many tech influencers are just seeking out social media validation through Twitter or GitHub
    - realizing that the frontend JS community is largely fad-driven rather than evidence-driven

    I could go on

The ErgoDox PCB I am soldering in the picture is approx 183x159 mm. I had to move around the PCB a little to get the fumes sucked in properly, but I didn't find this to be much of a problem. However, if you're concerned, some fume extractors come with table clamps and long arms for convenient positioning.

Never again am I going to solder without a fume extractor. It was that good!

As you can also see from the picture, I'm making myself an ErgoDox mechanical keyboard. I'm still missing some connectors to finish the build. Hope to buy them and complete by the end of the month. https://social.systemreboot.net/attachment/110074

Kamal Velan (of FSHM) has spoken about the need for the source code used in EVM's to be in public to ensure more transparency. Apart from that the news that the journalist of this article written that Syed Shuja has hacked the EVM is false and wrong.

I hate the "own your data" meme in the decentralized social web. A friend of mine pointed out how useless the phrase is a few years ago and I agree. "Ownership" sounds an awful lot like digital "property", which is nonsense when moving from physical to digital stuff because copying doesn't destroy the original. The path you go down there is the path to artificial constraints like DRM. Yikes!

We should be talking about user autonomy instead. That's a much better meme.

True. I find being surrounded by a large number of conservative people for extended periods of time, like in the typical Indian joint family, rather stressful.

git question: Is there a way to turn off the terminal "animations" using the escape sequences etc in the git command line program? They don't play well with emacs eshell.

I guess the real answer is to not use those command line programs and instead use the emacs alternatives like magit and so on? #emacs #git
