So I will continue using this account for the next week. I'll update my profile to help you guys find my other account.
@gemlog
The font is one of the things I also have a problem with. But I am researching that too.
@gemlog
Thank you for your feedback! I'll fix that article. I must have missed a '/' in the link.
@tso
I only plan to really incorporate the solid look of what I perceive to be 'Brutalist' and keep the code simple.
I know JS, but I am trying not to use any of it until absolutely necessary.
But really, I like the design concept of 'don't just add stuff for stuff's sake' and only add things to solve a design issue.
As far as Zen goes, it is really the principle behind Zen rather than actually following their guidelines to a letter.
@tso
That is a good idea! I almost went retro, but I am really trying out the Brutalist and Zen techniques for now. I would like to incorporate some retro elements eventually though.
@anathem
Oh I really like how that looks! I like the little sidebar on the right especially!
@h4ck3r9 Nicely structured HTML (except indentation 😅, but I don't bother with that either) and wonderfully minimal CSS.
A bit too brutalistic for my taste, but thats just me.
If you want to see another take on minimalistic web design (including age old <link rel> magic that isn't supported by modern browsers anymore), feel free to visit my page: http://dave.kliczbor.de/
@anathem
Thank you! I swear to gawd I changed the damn indentation like 10 time and somehow I forgot to save it before git pushing it... I swear. 😃😃😃
@triptych
Thank you. I thought the same thing, but I haven't gotten around to experimenting with it yet.
@pla Thank you! I am in the beginning stages for the CSS, but I have the basic idea there. I want it to be ultra simple... like super ultra simple.
@pla Oh yes, I may have prematurely posted all of this. Unfortunately, i am going to have to rework a whole new RSS. I hope to get it done tonight, but no promises.
In addition to this new website, I am also changing my username, which requires me to create a new user.... which I already have done so.
So please follow me if you want to continue to get updates on from me!
So, I have been working the past two days on my new site.
Design:
I took inspiration from an article found here:
https://brutalist-web.design/
and from
and tried to incorporate a few of the values from each design ideal. The "alpha result" can be found in my new site.
I am changing a lot in the coming weeks, including my alias/handle. I haven't decided how deep I will let it take me, but for now, visit my site and tell me what you think:
Hey guys look what I found
https://github.com/felixrieseberg/windows95
It's Windows 95 running as an Electron app, the only two things I absolutely adore!
We wrote a post about why we decided to go English only on Fosstodon. If you're interested in a long-form explaination as to why we did it, check out this post:

I have yet to see one person complain about "how crap mastodon is", because it isn't.
Great times are had here on Masto
Is there a "Federated Podcasting" thing out there? How cool would that be? I wonder if lbry.io would be a better solution for that... probably not.
