@EclecticEclipse @Simon Yea, no more cubes. The new layout "facilitates collaboration", which in non-corp-speak means, you have no privacy and you can hear everybody else and they can all see what you're doing.

@michel_slm The old desk is in a rental facility my company occupied for a couple months while they built a new building. It's owned by State Farm. I don't work there though. My company seems to be running about 5-10 years behind everywhere else. We're just moving into the "open plan", and I really hate it. I'm sure someone likes it for some reason, but it's not me.

@davey Depends on the job. If there's a "Bona Fide Occupational Qualification", it's legal to hire a specific gender, and I would assume other specifications would apply as well.

I took piano lessons as a kid too. Still play occasionally. Badly, since I do it so rarely I'm perpetually out of practice. I'm hoping he enjoys it. So far he's been having fun blasting as loud as possible while playing with the slide. Truly headache inducing.
