@CobaltVelvet Combustion engines are not all American muscle V8s. Lately even Ford have been optimizing air intake with forced induction to minimize gas useage and maximize cleanliness of emission.
@CobaltVelvet@Elizafox the vast majority of environmental impact from automobiles electric and petrol comes from manufacturing and unless you find a way to radically change manufacturing processes in all countries with relevant production humans will need to be distributed across more ecosystems anyways, it's the nature of being a booming population limited by space
@viomi also your car is just less fun, you can't control your transmission, you can't service it yourself to the same extent, there are less inputs like sound and vibration from the engine and fun matters.
@viomi your car is electric and new.... Which in tandem means that your car is made to be more disposable and has less recyclable and user serviceable parts, your car has less horsepower and a lower top speed, the production of your car sponsors imperialist conflict over the minerals we need for liion batteries, and your car will be filling up a landfill long before mine will. Maybe you shouldn't put electric cars on such a pedestal.
@CobaltVelvet@Elizafox there's a problem with this logic, see gas cars have more inputs for the human brain to latch on to, user controlled transmissions, loud sounds, big vibrations, gas cars are objectively more fun and something tells me your not going to be as appreciative when large swaths of the population hang on to their combustion engines
@CobaltVelvet well Id probably pour research into the creation of new and different hydrocarbons which is what we would be doing today if oil didn't fuel imperialism.
Your logic about corps destroying the planet is applicable to everything in production, this isn't a problem with cars themselves it's an issue with manufacturing and capitalism. Refusing to participate in the market and mitigating the demand for new cars is far more eco friendly then trashing old cars and making more landfills
Did you know that strong encryption used to be subject to strict export laws and was classed as a weapon?
It isn't any more, which is a shame because I was going to toot a short version of the RSA algorithm at @ImDad to turn it into the first bot that's also an international arms dealer
@tinybarks okay well there aren't many things left that I can enjoy and I cannot afford to be disengaged while driving or else I will start to view it as a chore. Driving stick allows me more freedom when I drive so long as I am responsible enough to not get into too much trouble.
Im talking about computers and cars and fitness and painting and programming and fashion and fierarms and more. Im talking about a broad pattern of consumers lashing out against enthusiasts movements trying to popularize something that takes more effort but has more payoff.
