@tinybarks that sounds like a very specific thing that happened and I am talking about a broad pattern that affects all interests

@USBloveDog this is why everyone should own their own means of production

I don't understand the push back against enthusiasts, computer consumers hating on nerds for daring to push for useage of Linux, car consumers hating on gearheads for pushing continued use of clutch, maybe this is an American culture issue. Personally i tend to trust people who devote themselves to understanding and working on machines that I also need in my life.

@Elizafox the last time America Innovated in the Auto industry was the age of muscle cars, no one is suprised that Americans are lazy and don't enjoy driving.

This is why we need fully decentralized production, so that everyone can download and print their CVT electric cars and I can maintain my stick shift without being threatened by a changing market of mislead consumers.

@Elizafox @awg like it's not even an opinion it's just incorrect. There's a reason that all new CVTs are designed to imitate geared transmissions, no one likes CVTs. Not even my elderly grandmother who traded in her CVT Honda pilot cause even she hated the transmission

@Elizafox @awg that's a Good joke. Call me back when cvts aren't made with mesh bands and when they can be controlled by the driver.

@Elizafox id be more mad about the trivial waste of capital and support of dirty manufacturing then I woul be mad that you owned a bunch of shitty cars

@USBloveDog @Elizafox if theres no oil under an Audi then there's no oil in it lol
But you don't need a "nice" gas car to have fun. Get a stick shift Civic or a manual Ford focus. It'll have more horsepower then most electric cars and the stick shift gives you more power to play

@USBloveDog @delores there will never be an electric car that is as fun to drive as a gas car. There is simply more feedback from the gas car, feedback from the transmission even if it's automatic, managing your own gear, feeling the engine... Not to mention the economics of electric cars

@USBloveDog @moonman so then don't buy electric. Sounds like a good enough reason to keep gas cars around

@moonman but Tesla's STILL ARENT fun to drive. There's no noise there's no physical feedback from the transmission, all it is is push a pedal and go. There's less input to handle and that means that it is less fun then an equivalent gas car like a Civic type r or a Toyota 86 where you get feedback from the transmission and you hear and feel the engine itself.

@USBloveDog @delores what terrible stance to take. We dont NEED to have fun but we do it anyways and fact of the matter is that people who learn to have fun in cars tend to lean how to maintain them on their own

@Elizafox even in America some of the most traffic filled areas act as the capitals of car culture.

@Elizafox a very American attitude and I hope at some point Americans can get over it and reclaim driving as a sport and a pastime
