@Gargron Huh, I had no idea. I didn't think of that at all. I assumed folks running their own home server with Nextcloud and maybe SearX at the same time, it would be no different than a large shared hosting company.

Everything is a service these days. I feel like there isn't a lot of open source development that can run on shared web servers. Prove me wrong?

@Gotterdammerung I got the dime store tour of a friend of a friend's art studio recently. That was fast more striking to me than his work. This is what I love about art now, the process. I don't want to learn exactly how he creates, I just enjoyed seeing his process. I was always obsessed with the end result, rather then following where the process takes me. The act of creating has become my award, not the finished work. 🙏

@Gotterdammerung Hmm. Right to repair? It's great you can go to any tire shop. Is that the case with Tesla? Maybe, but tires are about it. Everything else, like Apple, must go thru Tesla.

@pixelfed Hide them locally? Anyway, not a deal breaker for me, but my personal blog is getting nailed with spam comments and due to a http vs https problem I can't delete some. Thus this is fresh on my mind.

@feathersong I saw someone to get to Canada that's here in Edmonton, but I can't remember her name. She was very expensive, but took one look at my paperwork and said, "I didn't need her." She charged me half her fee as a consultation.

Basically, (6 years ago) the two countries got along well. She recommended that we continue on our own and we shouldn't run into issues.
