you can chart the history of Apple losing the rainbow and draining of colour and slowly becoming more sleek and modern with its loss of relevance as a cultural icon and enduring strength as a brand. Apple design doesn't MATTER anymore because we all know there will be a new version in a year anyway. it's all temporary.

(and they take advantage of that imo to pull shit that previously wouldn't fly, because we're all trained to view any flaws as temporary and to-be-fixed in next year's release)
