I integrate 'Luxrender' ( http://www.luxrender.net/en_GB/index ) into 3dsmax as a internal render plugin. Been working on it for many years, that's why I'm not able to put it away.
I do have Linux on all my other machines though, I only go to windows when coding.
@throgh I'm installing windows on a separate machine tonight. I've been dualbooting for a bit due to software development, but now I'm tired of that, so I decided to install it on a lowend machine I have, and just use that for the windows stuff I develop. Let's me have Linux on my main workstation at all times, and no need for dualbooting. Other then that I'm just listening to music etc. Kids just went to sleep.

stig atleIt's now much easier to run OpenSuse Tumbleweed when you have nvidia. I'm dependent on Nvidia drivers and cuda for my development. This now means that I can give tumbleweed a proper test as my main OS for games \ development etc. I love installing os'es, set them up and test everything I usually do on them. I'll give it a try this weekend if I have time for it.
@tekk Sorry for taking so long for a reply, I've been at work. So, I think there is one major difference, and that is that when using youtube you do not 'sell' the content at all, it's like painting pictures, take them to farmers market and show them to anyone for free, then farmers market puts ads next to the paintings they feel like they want to have ads on, and then you get paid from that.
@shoju What I mean is that it's not a 'right' to get money for your videos uploaded to youtube. They are a company that can set the rules for what they want to put ads on. Why is it a problem if they decide not to let you earn money for video X? Is it a problem because money is expected? is it a problem because 'you' use a 'free' service and they set the rules? is it a problem because people would not make videos unless they get the revenue from ads?
And to answer your question "Why should their content be given away for free", that's the thing, they do not *have* to use youtube, but they do - because they expect to get money from what they upload. They could easily fire up their own webserver and host it there ad-free, but there is not any money in that, so no one does it, they just complain about youtube, and do nothing on their own end it seems. Complain about a free service not giving them money, feels like beggars on the street complaining about not getting money.

stig atleAfter I got kids it still feels weird to touch 'normal' bread and other food items containing gluten that I prepare for them, I avoid that kind of food like the plague due to having Coeliac disease. It's a really weird feeling, like touching something full of viruses or something like that, like pulling something moldy and rotten from the trash, and touching it with your bare hands.
