One of the big changes was the drop in nefarious activity towards the webserver. Two years ago there were a lot more attempts trying to access PHP stuff like phpmyadmin (and these servers didn't use PHP). -

I've always enjoyed watching Karl Urban. First saw him in LoTR or was it Bourne Supremacy? Anyway, he was good in both of those. -

I know the high profile EU leaders make lots of Brexit pronuncements, but are the thousands of people working for the EU not busy doing other stuff? The media might be giving people the wrong impression. -

I've also made a comparison with some old fail2ban logfiles from a couple of years ago, on different servers (same profile, roughly same filter rules). The ratio was just 4:1. This is a very small, un-representative data set, but it has me wondering if there has been a huge increase in the targeting of SSH in the last couple of years.

I've been analysing a fail2ban logfile, for a server which is used for: HTTP, IMAP & SMTP. I was amazed to discover that bans for SSH infringements outnumber those for all other sevices combined by a factor of 15:1.

I should think most in the EU (Parliament, Commission, Council & Citizens) are probably heartily sick of the UK. The word Brexit is probably a huge turnoff. -

Is the EU trolling the UK?
The EU have nominated their new Trade Commissioner, it's Phil Hogan, from *Ireland*. Mr. Hogan will be responsible for negotiating any future trade deals between the EU and the UK (assuming Brexit happens).
Regarding future negotiations he re-iterated to-day the EU stance that nothing can proceed until the UK accepts the obligations in the Withdrawal Agreement.

Here's the thing though, Boris Johnson could still turn things around. If the UK does exit on October 31st, with or without a deal, and there is an election in November, he could win with a majority. He would then be fêted as a hero by those in the Tory party.I'm not saying this would be a good result for the UK, but it could happen.

That's about right. The SNP MPs were singing "Scots Wha Hae" at one point. Someone said they also sang "Flower of Scotland", but I haven't seen that footage. I don't know what the Welsh were singing. There's nothing quite like the old standards.

It all depends on whether there is a Brexit by October 31 AND if there is an election this year.Of course, there is also the *possibility* of impeachment. That would be exciting, I've never seen an impeachment up-close before.

I don't think that the backstop can ever be time limited, from the EU's perspective. It is all about protecting the Single Market. The only way to avoid the backstop would be some other mechanism preventing a backdoor into the Single Market. -

It is not outwith the bounds of possibility that something like May's deal gets accepted. However, I'm still not discounting a no-deal happening.

We are about to find out if there is a majority against no-deal. Otherwise there are too many Leave options. Remain is clear: stay in the EU, as was. Leave has all these options, each of which commands support of one minority only.
