@_xhr_ The location was well chosen and the monument itself is very... space rocket(ish). The building is also lovely inside. There is a spiral type stair case with multiple landings, each landing has themed displays. There are also some beautiful stained glass windows.
@Shufei It is fascinating to see such things. It would be even better if people could handle them, or perhaps replicas. Looking at something gives you a much better concept of someting than reading about it. Being able to handle it or use it would provide an even greater level of understanding.
Not saying people should be allowed to slice each other to pieces with claymores. 😃
@altStuC I've got a feeling humanity is very much disposed to finding differences between people. If it weren't nationalities, it would be something else. A kind of universal Lord of the Flies.
@Shufei Indeed. They have the sword that belonged to William Wallace. A hefty looking thing. You would be pretty tired swinging that sword about for an hour or two.
Joanna Cherry QC MP is raising a new Court of Session action which, if successful, would mean the court could sign the Article 50 extension letter if Boris "dead in a ditch" Johnson refused to do so.
If this happens I'll be laughing my socks off for the rest of the year.
@jk@priryo Product placements in big movies cost a FORTUNE. Unless they got a substantial discount for a blink-and-you-miss-it placement, it isn't the sort of thing an indie brewer could afford.
@alysonsee The BBC are now reporting that Renee MacRae's former lover, MacDowell, has been charged with the murder of the mother and son. People have speculated, ever since 1976, that he was responsible, but he was never charged. I wonder what has changed, what new evidence has been discovered? Did the police find something at the quarry?
@tfb > their sense of Britishness has more to do with Scotland than England.
Mmm, not sure about that. There are a lot of N. Irish with Scottish ancestry, that's true. Their distinctiveness has become defined by their religion (Protestant), and for many it is Calvinist in nature, which is another Scottish historical link. However, nowadays their Britishness and politics is more to do with "Empire" & Brexit.
There is also a football angle, but that is a whole different topic.
@zladuric That'll be most interesting. BoJo will then have been in breach of the Court of Session Appeal decision, which may be impeachable. If so, then he couldn't be PM or MP and possibly go to prison. Cool, eh?
Regardless, if the Supreme Court also find that it was unlawful, then parliament must be reconvened. May not stop Brexit, but the government will look really stupid.
@clacke Probably. My OH makes yoghurt on a rolling basis; once she has finished eating one batch, the next batch is ready. She uses a culture that she gets from Bulgaria (thermophilic). Bulgaria seems to be the home of yoghurt cultures. It comes in powdered form. Once the first batch of yoghurt is made, you can then use some of it to inoculate the milk for the second batch, and so on. This only seems to work for about 4x, then you need new culture.
It's a long time since I saw the 1995 version of Judge Dredd. I remember it not being too bad. Something I'd maybe watch if it was on. In every film from Rocky onwards, Stallone always portrays Stallone, no one else.
