@kitsch GRS was the *first* thing I wanted -- even before I knew it was medically possible, before I realized I was trans.

I was more ambivalent about boobs, but apparently my brain needs them. It's complicated and intense.

Of course, what I'd *really* like to do is just start over with the right structures and hormones.

@ghedipunk Any idea how I might find out where the nearest branch is? The chuchofsatan.org web site doesn't seem to have a "locations" page. (That rest stop is a couple of hours west of here, so it's only vaguely "local".)

@barkstick That's what I thought at first -- but even asexual people talk about going on dates... so what does it mean then?

@barkstick Given that premise, the conclusion follows -- but it's the premise that is the alien part (I guess I should clarify that). I enjoy interacting with animals, but I just can't feel anything more than a very tiny sense of companionship with them -- which (for me) is greatly outweighed by the emotional drain of taking care of them.

...and I think I'd have trouble with that level of care-work even for a dearly-loved human companion, for that matter.

@barkstick @Harena This parallels my story a bit -- I was also pretty much raised to be an island, when I wanted to be part of a continent (leading to emotional incontinence? :D #srynotsry) -- so there were some major tectonic shifts when I figured that out and tried to reconnect with the main landmass...

I think the resultant tsunami is still settling down.

@pzmyers Has he claimed elsewhere that this was the purpose of the experiment? The article states (without supporting evidence) that "He's always maintained that his mission [for this launch] isn't to prove the Earth is flat."

The article is pretty badly written in general, though, so not necessarily a reliable source of verified information either.
