@barkstick @Harena I mean, I tend to assume that classifications like this are actually gradients, and any individual is actually going to be all three to varying degrees in varying contexts -- so nobody is *absolutely* an island. It's more like we draw a percentile line somewhere and then, for the sake of brevity, say that people on one side "are" a thing, and those on the other side "are" something else.

I mean, I kind of agree with that -- it's just that Mastodon's only real provision for specialty communities, at this point, is "make an instance".

Words have meanings. People can't just redefine them and then claim they apply.

(They claim we're doing that with "woman" / "girl" / "female", but we're not; we're expanding the existing definition with sound justification backed up by decades of science.)

Even better would be a script that would let me dump a series of YT URLs, download them all, and then (optionally) play them on VLC or whatever. YT's UX is bad enough that this might actually be worth doing.

@barkstick I meant to respond to this earlier -- yeah, I think I probably would. I know even on G+ I've run into people who are kind of freaked out by spiders, and snakes are another one of those creatures that seem to trigger a hard-wired reaction in some people.

It's not a social crime if you forget, but there are almost certainly people out there who would be grateful for the CW.

Did the first yardwork of 2018 -- just the barest minimum. I pre-emptively uprooted some wisteria *before* it started growing leaves and storing more energy in its roots.

Stopped as soon as I started getting sweaty; I figure there's no need to overdo it on the first session after a long hiatus. I need to build my endurance back up slowly.
