    @elomatreb

    actually the analogy you're looking for is "that is like saying don't get into accidents instead of taking away the driver's license of those who are probably going to get into an accident"

    and I support interventions to remove weapons from situations they shouldn't be in.

    but if I want to personally collect and use weapons in a non-harmful way, why not?

    The reality is the reason why it is this way is because feelings are inconvenient for the parents. It is better to encourage your child to feel nothing, than to have them be rebellious or otherwise assertive.

    That works out all peachy until they show up at school and light the place up.

    White culture is about hiding your feelings (after all having feelings makes you gay). Native culture is about navigating the world *through* feelings.

    Is it any surprise that every school shooting incident has generally been a troubled white kid? Every single one actually.

    I wrote about how white people took native philosophy towards weapons and completely warped it into the toxic gun culture we have today a few weeks ago.

    The solution to the mass shooting problems is to fix the culture. Social responsibility and the value of one's peers must be reinforced as much as possible.

    Banning specific types of weapons won't solve anything (different weapon types will be used instead). Only solution is to teach empathy and compassion for all as a primary value.

    I think I will be keeping my semi-auto SKS thank you very much. Not very many guns can efficiently dispatch wild hogs.

    i mean, for example, i think somebody should initiate a class action lawsuit against the parents for allowing the child to have access to the weapons when they knew he was unstable

    all of that seems fine to me

    what doesn't seem fine to me is the bullshit neoliberal politicians spew on MSNBC about guns

    note i said neoliberals explicitly

    @Ricardus

    the real solution is to separate *specific* individuals who show a high likelyhood of committing violence from access to weapons

    in other words, the kid's parents should have removed the weapons from where the kid could access them.

    thusly, the kid's parents should be held liable for not doing so, considering they knew the kid was unstable

    sure, but the neoliberals will also tell us that the solution is to have the government come and take away my guns, as if this is a service to me.

    (also i'm not an NRA member to be clear, and i think they are fuckwits, but i do like collecting weapons)

    verification requiring >50% quorum is a quality of any distributed systems model.

    it is not required for "blockchain".

    see also ripple's supernodes. only Q supernodes need agree to a transaction to include it in the block.

    "blockchain" does not require mining as a consensus method.

    proof-of-work mining is what makes "blockchain" energetically expensive.

    cut down coreutils installed size with this one simple trick: --enable-single-binary=symlinks

    coreutils-8.29-r0 installed size: 5394432

    coreutils-8.29-r1 installed size: 1105920

    this is for #adelielinux core, which is a variant of adelie similar to #alpinelinux largely aimed at containers and embedded development (e.g. spam-sending toasters), except commercially supported.

    2017 was the year of taking TensorFlow and publishing training sets for it and calling it "deep learning"

    2018 will be the year of shoving merkle trees into every god damn thing we can and calling it a blockchain

    another way you can learn is to study the implementations and port them to a new architecture.

    i have annotated the assembler routines with great detail, so it should be pretty easy to jump in and do that too!

    for those interested in jumping into a portable, mostly assembler, project and learning how such things work, i created a bunch of "good first issue" entries for #libucontext: https://github.com/kaniini/libucontext/issues

    #libucontext 0.1.1 is out adding s390x support and more robust x86-32 support.

    libucontext 0.1.1 has also been validated against several libraries, programming languages and testsuites which use the ucontext API, such as Nim and OCaml.

    @calvin ergo there is wealth redistribution from those who buy Bitcoin to those who hold.

    unfortunately such markets tend to crash into a brick wall, give it about 3 more months
