in essence, it's so you can compose larger JSON objects with derivative knowledge. in practice, it's useless W3C bloat.
i tuned out when i found out the guys who made this garbage want to use it to embed a fucking blockchain in every browser called the "Web Ledger"

so as an example, you could have
{left: 2, right: 2, "@context": "addition.json"}
and this could be expanded to
{left: 2, right: 2, "@context": "addition.json", addition: {result: 4}}

JSON-LD is type annotations for JSON objects basically. there is also support for expanding the annotated JSON objects to include sub-objects from referenced IRIs.
but in practice, the JSON-LD "compression" only elides the semantic annotations and derivative data, so you can just interpret the JSON objects normally without having to bother with JSON-LD.
which is basically what mastodon does in practice. so, that's "good enough" for me.

@LottieVixen Linked Data. it's basically a port of RDF/Turtle to JSON from XML.
it turns out that in general i can just pretend JSON-LD is not a thing when doing activitypub comms though.
i am sure some webshit will be like "but this isn't compliant with JSON-LD"
and i am sure i will be like "but I don't give a shit"

Already by discussing this here I've proven I've got the opsec chops of most of the previous darkweb market operators

Am I committed enough to this "joke" that I would actually make a darkweb onion market. I'm afraid I am.

i sure love doing business with techbros.
techbro: "we don't have USD funds in our bank right now"
me: "okay, send it by paypal instead but if there's any scams, i'm shutting off all servers and telling all of your employees to quit and go update their resumes"
