why is it that every time i dig into mastodon's security-related code i get angry?

like did you know that mastodon creates preemptive local block entries for "restricted accounts" that are blocked when it encounters them?

so if somebody who has a restricted account favourites something you posted, for example, your instance will create a block entry that is later removed when you successfully follow them

observing huge ddos attack on west coast right now, seems to be affecting many carriers. sigh.
