I enjoy reading fiction, but I don't enjoy reading bad fiction, which means I start 3 or 4 books for every one I finish. Can someone recommend a book that doesn't suck?
I farted around last night painting some boardgame pieces, just getting a handle on the paints and the brushes. This morning I took a crack at one of the simpler 40K minis, a poxwalker. I think it's a pretty good first effort...
I asked my son to think up a summer project he and I could work on together, and he decided he wants to get into Warhammer 40K. I bought us the First Strike starter set, some starter paints, brushes, a lighted magnifier, etc. After priming these fellows, however, I've decided to make all my rookie mistakes on some shitty plastic A Touch of Evil board game pieces instead of these insanely detailed monstrosities.
I have a Samsung tablet (SM-T580) that apprears to be bricked. I let it run down to about 2% battery, and now when I try to charge it the indicator doesn't move and the screen flickers. I can't power it on. One time I tried it said "INVALID KERNEL LENGTH", but usually nothing happens at all.
I installed Heimdall on my laptop, and I've been looking for a firmware file to try to re-flash it with, but all the sites I can find seem sketchy (e.g. direct to some fileshare site for download). Anyone have experience with this who can help? I'd totally install a 3rd party firmware if it works and is trusted.
Corona virus can be killed by bottle of soap water in tissue.
Corona virus climb from tissue and rubbish bin to infect home baby.
Secretion tissue must be disposed by boiling water!
Interesting to ponder, but doesn't answer the real question, which is how babby is formed.
Counterpart is an odd show. It's a gritty cold-war style spy drama set in modern day Berlin. It's also a science fiction dealing with parallel universes. It has an unlikely lead in J.K. Simmons. It's definitely unique. I really like it so far.
Recent studies have raised fears that immunity to the coronavirus might be fleeting, thus making potential vaccines ineffective. The reality of the science is more complex — and more reassuring.
I found some wild Ganoderma tsugae growing on a tree stump today. This is a "hemlock reishi", a close relative of the more familiar G. lucidum reishi mushroom. I'm going to try to culture it. I'm not sure if it will grow on hardwood sawdust or if I'll have to source hemlock instead.
I watched Stateless, and it's pretty fucking sad. I think maybe they spent a little too much time trying to get us to empathize with Australians hang-wringing while simultaneously violently abusing refugees, rather than the refugees themselves, but maybe that's what was needed to make the audience give a shit. Apparently a white lady ending up in a detention camp was what it took for Australians to give a shit about the entire mess in real life. Maybe here in the US we need to get a white lady locked up by CBP so people will start giving a shit. IDK.
