@jeannie well I am pitching at our organizers meeting we make an #IndieWeb child care fund as well as our travel fund.

You can use travel funds for child care but I want an explicit fund to help out remote parents like you.

@cwebber @Gargron I think the community has recognized that all voices may not have been heard equally in the past.

To this end we have moved away from the word "Leaders" and focus more on organizers.

Anyone can be an organizer and join for organizing meetings. Just need to organize two events.

And agree 100% false to say Mastodon born through the community but I am 100% happy to have wonderful allies fighting for a better web

@fenwick67 to me it is a focus on schools and lirbaries teaching web literacy schools possibly providing community hosting and archiving..its more people than tech

@fenwick67 @Gargron I would agree. Though I think hyper local versus total decentralization is a more resilient approach to saving the web.

@Gargron and if microformats is "your filter" for is or what is not IndieWeb then of course Mastodon would count. I use rel=me and my stream is an h-feed I can follow.

Granted we have no webmentions but you and Mastodon community have expressed privacy concerns.

...we can keep working on you, native webmentions would be great. Replying to toots from my own website which is its own AP instance... Fun fun

@Gargron yes I think Newport linked together two different approaches to social media "alternatives"

Think trying to differentiate syndication, federation, and self hosting be too much for audience.

Though I would say many in the IndieWeb community see AP as another open protocol on the March to plurality.

IndieWeb to me is owning your content in a place you control. Bonus points for your own Domain.

Microformats and other W3c standards just enable better connections.

I finally figured out how to do a collapsible nav on my website: https://jgregorymcverry.com/ I was trying to do this with just CSS Grid and flexbox but decided to add a bit of javascript...it is the first bit I added. I hope it ain't a slippery slope. #IndieWeb
