@drwho @doctorow Captain Obvious time: one of the many great reasons to encrypt server (and any other) harddrives is that when decommissioning data removal is dead simple. Just erase the header (LUKS or whatever) and you're done.
That's even more important when a harddrive fails. You might not have a chance to erase data from it. If encrypted, (almost) no need to worry.
Somehow people miss that benefit. I find that surprising.
