Fun fact, looks like I will also get SailfishOS 3 on my trusty old Jolla Phone. It's old and clearly lacking some RAM, but still works.
I tend to buy new mobile devices every 5 or so years and choose them carefully. So far pretty happy with my choices. The time as come.
SailfishOS seems like it will remain a great fit for me: able to run Android apps, including from @fdroidorg , but not an Android-based OS in itself, and so completely ungoogled.
@Gargron maybe loaded question but what's your stance on the idea of closing registrations on mastodon.social in order to prevent centralization?
dansup has expressed that he doesn't want a large central service so he'll close registrations on pixelfed.social once it reaches a certain point, and lain closed registrations on pleroma.soykaf.com a while ago.
@ritjoe@aminb "I'll take a bet with anyone who'd like. Let's pick five projects under the Affero GPL and five projects under the Commons Clause, and then let's see which ones survive longer as vibrant communities with active codebases and diverse contributors."

amin ❧If anything, seeing this watering down of "open source" to "source available" with the likes of Commons Clause only makes me want to distance myself even further from "open source" than I already have, instead advocating even more for Free Software and bringing attention to the philosophical/societal aspects of software/user freedom and ethical concerns about proprietary software.
Someone else posted this here, but they were on the federated timeline and I lost their post. Anyway, I think this is a wonderful, wonderful idea that addresses a serious problem that dementia patients experience.
Unpaywall is a handy little open source project, available to use as a browser extension, which makes it easier to find open access copies of journal papers.
I just thought I'd share this here for those who may need it. I find it very useful!
