@ndegruchy @mdbekhit last time I checked, RHEL was actually the base OS for over 50% of the workloads on Azure, which is kinda nice.
Oh, and they opensourced the whole of .NET, so there's that...

@joseph @kev there are PDF editors, I've used masterpdfeditor before to decent effect (filling in pregenerated company shipping labels, to be specific). Should be possible to delete/overwrite the field and re-save it
Available for Arch here https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/masterpdfeditor/ other distros not checked ;)
@bjarni Fear is the little death which brings total oblivion.
I don't think they mean the thing by "open", but I agree with the sentiment nonetheless :)
At work I switched to the Webdev team for some days. Well, I won't complain about Androiddev for a while now 😅
Why libraries are the greatest places on earth:
- books
- free!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- quiet, so quiet, so peaceful is heaven
- people leave you alone
- also movies and computers and things
- staff literally know everything and want you to know everything thanks
- you can stay the whole time they're open and not have to pay anything at all
- you can get lost in the big ones and that's cool
- mmm smells of wisdom
New book o'clock!
Light reading for next week's trip ;)
@fitheach hah, yes. Although here we need a longer period, I think. The Mayan calendar, perhaps... :)
Well, well, well. An opinion piece by Teresa May that I actually agree with. I suppose it had to happen eventually
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/jul/18/family-fathers-paternity-leave-theresa-may
I've been banging on about the stats for partners using the Additional Paternity Leave rules (only 2% do, shockingly low) for ages, and the improvement around neonatal ICU is welcome - I was lucky enough to have an understanding boss, but not everyone does.
Happy to be back at EdinbR users group again tonight! We've got Bayesian posteriors via {RStan}, and code duplication detection via {dupree}
@mattbk why thanks! :)
No, that's not going to happen - Twitter is mostly a trashfire, it just happens that the #rstats community there appears to be a lovely group of people that I'm struggling to find/replicate here.
I'm unsure if I'll cross-post the :rstats: stuff (that seems to annoy some people), but for sure the rest of my random musings will stay right here :)
@louwestin nah, specifically #rstats as I said - I've been in open source for over a decade so I know IRC pretty well by now :)
@Floppy yeah, giant PITA, agreed. It's not a nice pattern.
@Floppy which tool are you using?
I've spotted that pattern too, but KeePassXC (which I use, clearly) can be given custom fill patterns for a given form. For example
{USERNAME}{ENTER}{SLEEP 2}{PASSWORD}{ENTER}
Works well on the examples I've seen so far.
Hmm, I think I will need to go back to Twitter. I'm not keen, but it does seem like *far* more is happening in the #rstats community there.
I need to be practical - changing field at this point in my life requires me to skill-up fast, and in particular, driving awareness of my work (to gather criticism and thus improve) seems a good idea. To use a gaming analogy, playing in a group helps you level-up faster.
I'll probably do *only* work there, and keep this for personal stuff.
@fitheach one day I shall relate the tale of how I corrupted a 600Gb MySQL database from (theoretically) read-only account. But it is not this day :)
@fitheach now you're making me want to write queries in lolsql again...
OHAI
IM IN UR clients

LIEK name IZ "fitheach"
KTHXBAI
Man, that's such an old meme...
@jwildeboer getting root canal today. Solidarity :fistbump:
@zhenech yeah, i saw that.... :)
@JayVii_de it did amuse me that #rlang starts from 1 - but I was a Ruby dev in a past life too :)
