@DaDenMan The difference is one is a PROTOCOL that (despite initial contribution by G) will be standardized by IETF, whereas PRODUCTS are under Google's exclusive control... and they DO have a reputation for entering/exiting markets somewhat haphazardly.
@TomNovak @YoVinnie
well, to be honest...
having someone hand several open beers through a cafe window to the driver probably wasn't the smartest idea, although it was very convenient.
No seat belts back then, either.
I survived.
@YoVinnie @ChrisWilson I've always liked that lazy style... slightly slow to hit the beat, but steadily so.

@irritable @dcgirl oh please never again...
@YoVinnie @TomNovak newlyweds, we lived in Lubbock until wife graduated Texas Tech. No liquor stores at the time.
You could drive down the highway past miles of cotton fields when suddenly, in the middle of nowhere, a HUGE warehouse liquor store appeared. This was before liquor warehouse retail stores.
Just past the county line.
It had a drive-through, too.
Friday afternoons that section of highway was almost bumper to bumper.
@TomNovak @YoVinnie
I once lived in a very small Texas town where two country highways crossed and nothing was open after 7pm.
There was a Wide Spot on the road a mile or so outside of town where there was enough shoulder you could turn the pickup around. That stretch became The Strip.
Slow motion circles on hot summer nights. Possibly beer, maybe not. Dry county.
@kgibson hmm...
@YoVinnie @TomNovak OH!
so true anymore

I don't get the impression @adam is referring to the physical network.
Podcast content has NOT (yet) become a commodity. Ad rates are very high, generally higher than most alternatives. Because it is effective.
Advertisers ARE pushing for more dynamic ad insertion, automated buying, etc... toward commoditization, for sure. But not yet.
Totally agree about community.
Yo @GluedToTheScreen IMO, the "network" is a "robust" communication system we paid for via ARPANET. Owned by "us" (in theory).
Content aggregation: Content has become a commodity, like corn. Cheap and plentiful. The "steak" ain't the selling feature, it's the "sizzle".
We are here cuz of Adam & John and the community. Content is involved but isn't the payload.
Provide an immediate benefit to clients with pizazz. Just like NA and NAS.
or not, but it's my take.
