@hund 8GB currently. I sometimes hit SWAP when playing minecraft and doing a few other bits.

I honestly thought I’d be in the minority with my 5yo desktop - it’s great seeing so many people with even older machines than mine!

I think I’m gonna do a few upgrades once the wedding is out the way:

Another 8gb ram (16 total)

Bigger SSD so I don’t need a HDD

Upgraded Noctua fans, because they’re so bloody good!

May even splash out on a curved monitor.

@rnickson could a simple ram upgrade help maybe?

@hund I think mine's going to need a RAM upgrade soon, and of course a fan upgrade, now I know how ridiculously good these Noctua fans are!

Holy shit - I thought my PC was 'a couple' of years old. I just checked the date that I ordered - 2014!

5 years and still going strong. Very happy with that! The old girl is a cracker.

@philbaker1 I don't know if you're looking for something you can self-build, but if not, have you thought about Synology? I had one before my current setup, they're very good.

@philbaker1 I'm pretty happy with the iTX case I bought for my 'server'. It's got a big old fan on the front, with a dust filter. It's pretty loud though.
